Valentine’s Day is coming up later this week, which means that, for one, you probably need to plan something for your partner. But also, you need to sort out your seasonal marketing push, which Snapchat’s looking to help with these tips.
Snapchat’s conducted a new study, in partnership with National Research Group, to glean more insight into what Snapchat users are looking for around Valentine’s Day, and how they plan to shop for the event. Which could help to inform your outreach approach, on Snap specifically, but maybe also in a broader sense.
First off, the data shows that Snapchatters start shopping for Valentine’s Day in mid-January, with many looking to buy their Valentine’s Day gifts during the peak sales period.
Which is not overly helpful at this stage, but as you can see, the data also shows that Snapchatters tend to spend more on Valentine’s Day gifts than others, which could make it a more valuable destination for your marketing push.
The data also shows that Snapchatters are increasingly likely to rely on advice from friends and family when making a purchase.
As per Snap:
“For Snapchatters, connecting with friends and family is one of their favorite activities, and they play a pivotal role in shaping the purchase experience. Snapchatters turn to each other to share ideas, seek real-time feedback, and get advice before making a purchase. In fact, talking to family and friends is the #1 trigger for them to shop for Valentine's Day.”
Snapchat also notes that creating memorable experiences around events like Valentine’s Day can help to foster long-term brand loyalty, and Snap’s AR experiences can be a powerful tool in this respect.
These are some good notes, which could help to prompt your Valentine’s Day campaigns, and possible use cases on Snap. Though I do think that Snap probably should have published these insights a little sooner, as most brands won’t be able to action them with only a few days left.
But maybe they’re a consideration for next year, and it could be worth exploring your Snap options to see whether you can tap into these usage and alignment trends.
