Snow and ice prompts 316 flight cancellations across UK

A total of 316 flights were cancelled across the UK over the weekend, as snow and ice continue to cause aviation disruption.

Aviation analytics firm Cirium revealed Heathrow had the greatest number of cancellations with 119, equating to 10% of all its scheduled flights.

Meanwhile, Gatwick was the worst affected, seeing 16% (91) of all its flights cancelled over the weekend.

Manchester saw 12% (44) of its flights cancelled, while 11% of both Stansted and Glasgow’s schedules were abandoned, working out at 43 and 13 flights, respectively.

Four flights from Belfast International were called off and two were cancelled at Bristol.

Travellers have today (Monday) been urged to check the status of their flights with airlines before leaving for the airport.
