‘Sold out’ Transun adds Lapland capacity for December

Transun has increase Lapland capacity for this December and introduced a new itinerary after a surge in January bookings which the operator said left it “effectively sold out”.

Additional charter flights to Enontekio in Finnish Lapland have been added from Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Gatwick, and Manchester, adding a further 800 seats to existing capacity.

The operator’s new three or four-night ‘Sleigh Bells Ringing’ holiday will operate in Lapland’s Pallas-Yllas National Park in the small resort of Jeris. The family holiday will include full-length husky sled, snowmobile and reindeer sleigh safaris, as well as a private family meeting with Santa.

Ice fishing, snowshoeing and Finnish cookie baking are also included.

Accommodation is at the Jeris Log Cabins, which include a private sauna and traditional log burner, and guests have the option of adding one night in an Aurora Dome, which offers views of the night sky from bed.

James Crawshaw, Transun director, said: “We are pleased to be offering this new holiday which is in keeping with our ‘True Lapland’ ethos: we only operate to uncommercial, authentic Lapland destinations, and not mass-market resorts.

“Demand for our Lapland and Northern Lights holidays has been through the roof this January, but in adding capacity we have been cautious to balance capacity with preserving the authenticity of the quaint Lapland resorts we operate in.”

Transun reported a 9% year-on-year increase in sales in January, with guests unable to take their planned holidays in 2020 also transferring to December this year.
