Sophia Bush Gets Sweet Birthday Tribute From Girlfriend Ashlyn Harris: 'I Love Your Heart'

Sophia Bush is celebrating another trip around the sun with a glowing tribute from girlfriend Ashlyn Harris. 

The One Tree Hill alum turned 42 on Monday, with Harris sharing a carousel of photos and a loving caption in honor of the occasion. 

"Happy birthday beautiful. I hope today feels special and full knowing how much we love you," 38-year-old Harris wrote. "You are such a gift in this world. To see you shine and happy fills us all up. I love your heart Soph… I love everything about you. Happy born day baby."

Bush offered a heartfelt response in the comments section of Harris' post

"Last year I got free. This year I found the very best love in the very most unexpected place," she wrote. "I may never get over the gift of it. Thank you for putting me back together. For making my second birthday even better than my first. And for reminding me what the sound of my unbridled laughter sounds like. You are magic. You are my best present. ✨"

In the first photo of the carousel, Bush is all smiles as she and Harris snuggle up in elegant outfits while laying in a crate filled with packing peanuts. The couple embrace and even exchange kisses in several of the other pics. 

Bush appeared to usher in her new year with a bowling alley bash, appearing in a series of photos and videos on pal Barbara "Babs" Burchfield's Instagram Story. 

Over on her Instagram Story, Harris offered a look at Bush's birthday fit -- a baby blue bowling shirt embroidered with the nickname "Lil." 

Bush and Harris first sparked romance rumors in October 2023, two months after the actress filed for divorce from her husband, Grant Hughes, in August 2023. The former couple were married for 13 months. 

Meanwhile, Harris, a retired United States Women's National Soccer Team star, filed for divorce from her wife, Ali Krieger, in September 2023. The pair -- who tied the knot in 2019 after meeting in 2010 -- are parents to Sloane, 3, and Ocean, 1.

Bush and Harris made their first public appearance together in March at the Elton John AIDS Foundation's 32nd annual Academy Awards viewing party in West Hollywood, California. One month later, they officially made their red carpet debut together at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner where they posed for photos on the press line.

The Chicago P.D. star confirmed her relationship with the former soccer star in a cover story for Glamour magazine that same month, and also broke her silence on her sexuality, publicly identifying as queer. 

"I think I've always known that my sexuality exists on a spectrum," Bush shared. "I've experienced so much safety, respect, and love in the queer community, as an ally all of my life, that, as I came into myself, I already felt it was my home. I think I've always known that my sexuality exists on a spectrum. Right now I think the word that best defines it is queer. I can’t say it without smiling, actually. And that feels pretty great."
