the First Southeast US Retreat
This first annual retreat united five Southeast US centers: KMC Georgia, KMC North Carolina, KMC South Carolina, and Je Tsongkhapa KBC and Kosala KBC both in North Carolina. Participants loved it so much that plans are already underway for next year’s retreat!
Under clear blue skies and chilly December temperatures, nearly 100 people from the Southern states of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida gathered for a blessed mountain retreat in Highlands, North Carolina. Guided by four Resident Teachers, the sessions focused on gaining a deeper experience of the Heart Sutra and meditating on the emptiness of the body.
In the morning breaks participants enjoyed silent reflection, surrounded by stunning vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The afternoon breaks provided opportunities to connect with Sangha friends, meet new ones and discuss Dharma.
