The Cassian Elwes Independent Screenwriting Fellowship at Sundance, an annual program set up in partnership with The Black List, is now accepting submissions for its 10th edition.

Each year, the fellowship awards one screenwriter with an all-expenses paid trip to the Sundance Film Festival, and an opportunity to meet with “Mudbound” producer Cassian Elwes.

As detailed on the Black List website, the opportunity is open to “unrepresented feature writers with an independent sensibility who have made less than $5,000 in aggregate in their film or television writing careers.” Those who are interested have until November 13, 2022 to opt into consideration via the Black List site. The Black List will choose 10 screenplays to be sent on to Elwes for consideration, then up to two fellowship recipients will be selected by Elwes by the end of the calendar year.

The 2023 edition of Sundance Film Festival is due to take place both online and in-person in January, but if travel and the festival schedule are disrupted by Covid-19 once more, the Fellowship recipient(s) will receive a pass to the modified 2023 Sundance Film Festival and a stipend of $2,500, with additional events and meetings hosted on Zoom.

Previous fellows include Leslie Nipkow, Aemilia Scott, Emily Tomson, Heather Faris, Keely Lewis Wise, Claire Ayoub, and Kristina Zacharias.
