"Huesera: The Bone Woman"

“Are you happy?” a pregnant woman is asked in a new trailer for “Huesera: The Bone Woman.” Michelle Garza Cervera’s Tribeca winner tells the story of Valeria (Natalia Solián), a young woman who claims to be “delighted” to be expecting her first child. Inwardly, she’s in crisis. She’s cursed by “a sinister entity and plunged into a terrifying and dangerous world,” per the film’s synopsis.

No one else seems to pick up on the danger Valeria facing. She’s told that what’s happening to her is “quite normal.” An older woman confides, “When you become a mother you feel like you are split in two.” But Valeria may be in danger of actually splitting in two.

“Huesera: The Bone Woman” made its world premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and landed Best New Narrative Director and Nora Ephron awards. You can catch it in theaters February 10 and on VOD February 16.
