Viking completes float-out of new Nile River vessel
Viking Hathor due to launch in August
Viking has completed the float-out for its new Nile River vessel, marking the first time the ship has touched water.
The float-out ceremony of Viking Hathor took place at Massara shipyard in Cairo. Hathor will now be moved to a nearby outfitting dock for final construction and interior build-out.
The 82-passenger ship is set to debut in August and will sail Viking’s 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary.
Hosting 82 guests in 41 staterooms, Hathor features the Scandinavian design the line has become known for, along with a “distinctive” square bow and Aquavit Terrace, which has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking, said: “Egypt is a phenomenal destination, and we are pleased with the continued interest for our Nile River voyages.
“Our guests are thinking people who are curious about the world— and Egypt, with its cultural treasures and ancient antiquities, remains at the top of the travel list for many of them.
“With the float-out of the Viking Hathor, we look forward to welcoming more guests to experience this fantastic region.”
