TWO SPECIAL EVENTS IN WESTERN CANADA
Gen Kelsang Rigpa, Western US National Spiritual Director of the NKT-IKBU and Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center LA, visited Western Canada last week for a Public Talk at Kadampa Meditation Centre Vancouver and the Western Canada Dharma Celebration held in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
OVERCOMING OBSTACLES - the WESTERN CANADA DHARMA CELEBRATION
People from across Western Canada (and the US) gathered to receive the blessings of Buddha Prajnaparamita. Gen Rigpa shared the most precious and profound teachings helping us understand the relationship between our mind and our world, how all our problems and suffering come from our ignorance of the ultimate nature of things, and how we can abandon this ignorance and come to enjoy pure, lasting happiness.
Deep gratitude to Gen Rigpa for joyfully and skillfully teaching at both events, to Gen Delek for uniting us as she led the Celebration introduction, to Gen Zopa for guiding the most exquisite meditations, to the organizers and many kind volunteers for orchestrating and running the events and to the hundreds who attended!
Immense gratitude to our Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, for providing us with the most clear instructions to benefit others, making our life incredibly meaningful.
PUBLIC TALK: FINDING HAPPINESS FROM WITHIN
Kadampa Meditation Centre Vancouver hosted a sold out public talk with over 100 people in attendance, many who visited the Centre for the first time. Through a series of powerful examples, meditations and teachings from The New Eight Steps to Happiness, Gen Rigpa skillfully explained how we are fooled by thinking that if we arrange everything in our life perfectly we would be truly happy. Instead, he methodically led the captivated audience to an understanding that happiness is part of the mind and how the real source of happiness lies within us.
The joy and lightness after the talk was palpable, as people enjoyed refreshments, lined up to speak to Gen Rigpa, and enjoyed exchanging their "Dharma take-aways" with each other.
