Abta to bring its RCN regime to a close this month
Existing refund notes remain valid until January 31, 2022 at the latest

Abta is to bring its Refund Credit Note regime for non-flight package holidays cancelled due to Covid-19 to a close at the end of this month.
The association has confirmed that no new RCNs should be issued after June 30 for Abta-protected packages and other travel arrangements.
Existing Abta RCNs remain valid until their expiry date, which should be no later than the date already agreed in each case, and no later than January 31, 2022 overall.
The association said: “Abta’s RCN regime was introduced last year in response to the pandemic, to support members with navigating the crisis as it developed. It was not intended to be a long-term solution and will now draw to a close.”
It added that existing RCNs “should continue to be administered in line with Abta guidance”.
In April, the Civil Aviation Authority confirmed RCNs for Atol-protected flight-inclusive packages could be issued beyond April 30 but said no new issuing deadline would be given “until further notice”.
At that point, the expiry deadline of newly-issued RCNs was pushed back a year to September 30, 2022.
