Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte are sticking around. HBO Max has renewed “And Just Like That…” for a second season. The “Sex and the City” revival “delivered the strongest debut of any Max Original series to date,” per a press release announcing the renewal.
Like its iconic predecessor, “And Just Like That…” is set in New York City. The series follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), who are now in their 50s.
Kim Cattrall didn’t reprise her role from the original “SATC” as Samantha.
Parker, Nixon, and Davis are all exec producers on the new series.
“We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much,” said Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s Head of Original Content. “We are proud of the work [of exec producer] Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast, and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”
Season 1’s directors included Nixon, Gillian Robespierre (“Obvious Child”), Anu Valia (“Never Have I Ever”), and Nisha Ganatra (“The High Note”). Samantha Irby (“Shrill”), Rachna Fruchbom (“Fresh Off the Boat”), Keli Goff (“Black Lightning”), and “SATC” scribes Julie Rottenberg, and Elisa Zuritsky are among the writers.
