Anita Hill will continue to push the conversation forward. The lawyer, author, and feminist trailblazer brought workplace sexual harassment into the national spotlight when she testified at Clarence Thomas’ Senate confirmation hearings in 1991, and her story became part of the national conversation once again when Christine Blasey Ford testified about Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual abuse during his confirmation hearings in 2018. Since 2018, she’s led The Hollywood Commission, an organization dedicated to ending sexual harassment in show business. Now the multi-hyphenate is set to launch a podcast exploring the past, present, and future, “Getting Even with Anita Hill.” She’s teaming up with Malcolm Gladwell’s Pushkin Industries on the weekly audio series, per Deadline.
Set to kick off February 28, the podcast will “feature conversations between Hill and a range of guests revealing their own stories of vulnerability and accountability while carving unconventional pathways to equality. The first episode will see Hill weigh in on the upcoming SCOTUS pick and what it means for the country. She will examine the 1991 Senate Judiciary Committee hearings and what would have happened if the Senate had taken the issue of sexual harassment and its role in evaluating character and fitness for judges more seriously,” according to the source.
Guests will include ballet superstar Misty Copeland and civil rights activist Kimberlé Crenshaw, and topics of conversation such as “critical race theory, underrepresentation in Silicon Valley, and body scrutiny and discrimination” are going to be addressed.
“For my entire career of 41 years, I’ve been committed to advancing equality for the vulnerable and underrepresented,” said Hill. “Over 30 years of research goes into the making of this show. It will expand our definitions of equality and explore ways to deliver it through a range of solutions to contemporary inequities.”
“Scandal” alumna Kerry Washington portrayed Hill in “Confirmation,” an Emmy-nominated 2016 HBO film.
