Are package holidays to Jordan resuming after the UK government lifts ‘non-essential’ travel advisory?
Holiday companies are touting the return of their Jordan holidays this year
More travellers will have the chance to visit Jordan this year after the UK government lifted its advice against non-essential travel.
Jordan has been subject to advisories for months due to the Middle East conflict after several missiles crossed Jordanian airspace.
While some holiday packages continued to run to Jordan, other travel companies made the decision to cancel itineraries within the country until further notice.
Jordan is a country popular with tourists seeking culture-filled breaks exploring ancient Petra, visiting the red dunes of Wadi Rum, or escaping to the Red and Dead Seas for beach holidays.
Yet on 3 June, the UK’s Foreign Office (FCDO) lifted its advice against “all but essential” travel to Jordan but continues to advise against all travel within 3km of the border with Syria.
The FCDO still advises that the situation in the Middle East remains unpredictable, and that attacks could resume at short notice, but tour companies are now confident that with the UK government’s travel updated travel advice, package holidays and tours can resume
Small group tour company Intrepid Travel decided to cancel many of its tours within the Middle East, including Jordan, shortly after the war started. Now that the travel advice for Jordan has changed, it is looking to restart its trips.
"We’re delighted to see the FCDO relax its advice on travel to Jordan,” Zina Bencheikh, managing director EMEA for Intrepid Travel, said.
“Tourism plays a crucial role in supporting local communities and livelihoods, and this has been a challenging period for our local team and partners.
“Jordan has long been a favourite with our travellers, and we’re excited to restart our trips this month and welcome customers back to this amazing country."
Small-group escorted tours company G Adventures, is pausing its tours in Jordan until at least the end of July.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely and, while our Jordan itineraries remain available to book from August onwards, any decision on future departures will be guided by the latest travel advice across all the markets in which we operate,” managing director Brian Young said.
Meanwhile, tour operator Wendy Wu Tours said that while it welcomes the FCDO's decision, its next trip to Jordan will not take place until September.
“Following the latest FCDO update, we will resume our Jordan programme with our first group departure on 23 September, followed by further departures throughout the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.
“We have continued to see strong interest in the destination, and we expect demand to grow as travellers regain confidence and look to experience one of the Middle East's most rewarding and culturally rich countries.”
Travel company Trailfinders said it is ready to assist clients enquiring about travel to Jordan.
It added: “Our clients have peace of mind as if the FCDO changes and Jordan is off limits again, Trailfinders offers a change of holiday destination or a full and immediate refund, so no one is left out of pocket.”
