Aviation tragedy struck once again—this time in New York—when a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River on April 10, 2025. On board were Global CEO of Rail Infrastructure of Siemens Mobility Agustin Escobar, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, three children believed to be their kids, and the pilot. All six occupants lost their lives.

While the cause of the crash has yet to be determined, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch told CBS News, “NYPD units from aviation, harbor, scuba and patrol all responded, with our first units arriving at the site within minutes. Our NYPD divers entered the water, along with rescue personnel from FDNY, Port Authority and various New Jersey agencies.”

She added, “NYPD divers pulled four people from the crash site, and FDNY divers recovered an additional two. Immediate lifesaving measures were undertaken on the vessels on the scene as well as the adjoining pier. Four victims were pronounced dead on scene, and two more were removed to local area hospitals, where sadly both succumbed to their injuries.”

Following the crash, Siemens released a statement to The Independent, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter crash in which Agustin Escobar and his family lost their lives. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all their loved ones.”
