Barrhead unveils new uniforms as part of modernisation drive

Barrhead Travel has launched new uniforms across its retail network as part of the agency chain’s modernisation drive.

After unveiling a taster of the new styles at its annual conference in Palma in October last year, the agency has introduced the uniform for all customer-facing roles.

The uniform, with a colour palate of charcoal shades, white and the distinctive Barrhead Travel red, has 25 separate pieces in its collection.

Travel consultants can “mix and match” items to dress up with smart suits, court shoes and dresses or dress down with options of “relaxed” trousers, t-shirts, skirts and trainers.

Agents will be encouraged to choose a look that makes them feel comfortable and represents their individual style and personality.

Nicki Tempest-Mitchell, Barrhead Travel sales and marketing director, said: “When we emerged from the pandemic, it felt like a new era for travel agencies.

“Investing in a more modern design for our customer-facing uniform made sense – and it also ties in with our commitment to continuing to invest in modernising our high street spaces which is an ongoing project.

“What is most important to us is how our people feel at work. We listened to feedback last year that a new uniform was something our agents were keen to see so we appointed a focus group to take ideas and inspiration from as many of our agents as possible.

“We discovered that, with such a diverse range of people in our teams, a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach just wouldn’t work.

“Some people told us they love dressing up in a suit dress and heels while others said they longed for something more casual.

“It therefore made sense to create a uniform collection with a whole range of different styles.

“With 25 separates to choose from, we want our people to have the freedom to choose to wear what makes them feel good.”

Catherine Finlan, the group’s head of sales for England, spearheaded the uniform launch.

She said: “One of the main things I’ve enjoyed about this project is being able to take our people’s own ideas and bring them to life.

“What we wear reflects our brand and our teams – and our new style is modern, vibrant, diverse, and friendly.

“I am so proud to see our teams across the country embrace our new look and can’t wait to see how they each decide to wear the collection.”
