Bristol airport reopens but warns of continuing snow disruption

Bristol airport reopened at lunchtime on Wednesday after snow on the runway forced the southwest hub to close this morning.

The airport tweeted that it was operational again but added: “Disruption across airline networks has resulted in some ongoing flight disruption. For the latest flight information, please check with your airline.”

Earlier it had said its teams were working hard to clear the snow from the runway and urged passengers to check with their airline about flight information.

The disruption came as many parts of southern England, Wales and Scotland saw snowfall overnight and more bad weather is forecast.

National Highways issued a “severe weather alert” for snow affecting the southeast and southwest from noon on Wednesday until 3am on Thursday.

The West Midlands and east regions will be affected between 3pm and Midnight.

It warned of possible travel delays on roads, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.
