Classic Collection parent proposes further job cuts as part of B2B restructure

Further job losses are being proposed amid plans to combine Classic Collection and Classic Package Holidays under a “single brand” for B2B sales.

Earlier this month, parent company On the Beach Group confirmed the departure of Classic Collection chief executive Andy Freeth as well as product and commercial director Alex Gavalda.

More job cuts are now being discussed with the aim of creating “a simpler operating model” for agents, suppliers and customers.

A spokesperson for On the Beach Group said: “This was not an easy decision, and we will be providing full support to those affected, both personally and professionally. They are our priority over the coming weeks.”

Following Freeth’s departure, agency sales and marketing director Si Morris-Green was promoted to B2B director for Classic Collection and Classic Package Holidays.

On the Beach Group described B2B sales as a “meaningful” part of operations, adding: “We remain committed to continuing the growth and supporting the trade with the service and product that they’ve come to expect.”

The spokesperson added: “Following our recent announcement regarding changes to the leadership structure, we have reviewed our long-term growth strategy for our B2B operating model across Classic Collection and Classic Package Holidays.

“As the business is operating in an increasingly competitive channel and in order to be able to compete and win, we need to be able to operate with a simpler operating model for the benefit of suppliers, agents and customers.

“The overall outcome would be to support the B2B channel with a single brand and single platform solution leveraging Group operations.

“As such, we are proposing a number of changes resulting in certain employees now in a period of collective consultation.”
