Disney sales chief reiterates commitment to agent fam trips
Javier Moreno stresses importance of trade education
The recently-appointed sales chief for Walt Disney World Florida, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line has outlined his commitment to maintaining fam trips for agents and operators following the pandemic.
Javier Moreno took up his position as senior vice-president of sales, services and events for Disney Destinations in September last year, following 19 years in various roles with Disneyland Paris.
Speaking at the IPW Conference in Orlando, he stressed his belief in trade education and said fam trips would continue to play a key role alongside digital training in building knowledge post-pandemic.
“I am a big believer that there’s nothing like experiencing the destination to understand it fully,” he said.
“We will continue to get travel agents on property as well as creating new digital tools to help them learn from home, and this is something we are really prioritising.”
He added: “The trade is now playing an even more critical role in shaping itineraries and reassuring the customer. Agents are committed and engaged professionals and our focus is on educating them so they can help our guests.
“Travel agents bring so much added value and a trained travel agent is a great ambassador for us.”
Moreno said he was “extremely happy” to see UK guests returning to Walt Disney World as it celebrates its 50th anniversary with a range of new and returning attractions and shows.
The official anniversary celebrations kicked off in October last year and will run until the end of March, 2023.
He also confirmed all Disney hotels are now fully open and selling at full capacity.
