Don’t Miss These June Class-Action Settlement Deadlines

outFrom defects on Prius inverters, to canceled Lufthansa flights and false advertising from Vizzy hard seltzer drinks, there is something for most people to claim from the class-action settlements happening in June.

The following are the class-actions settlements with June deadlines that many people are eligible for. We’ll detail what the settlement is for, who is eligible, how to claim your slice of the settlement, and how much you can expect to get. Vizzy hard seltzer falsely advertised

Vizzy hard seltzer’s company, Molson Coors Beverage Co., misleadingly labeled its Vizzy hard seltzer products as having “antioxidant vitamin C from acerola superfruit.” They have agreed to pay $9.5 million in a class action lawsuit settlement.

Anyone who purchased any Vizzy hard seltzer beverage in the United States between January 1, 2020, and March 10, 2023, except for resale, is eligible to participate in the settlement.

How much you’ll be receiving in the settlement will depend on how many packs or single cans you purchased. Here’s what you can expect:

If you do not have proof of purchase, the maximum payment per household is $15. Each person with a valid claim is expected to receive at least $6, depending on the number of claims and other factors.

Toyota Priuses had defective inverters and IPMs

Toyota agreed to cough up $20 million because their Prius from 2010 to 2015 and Prius V from 2012 to 2017 vehicles were equipped with defective inverters and Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) that failed prematurely. If you owned or leased a 2010 to 2015 Prius or 2012 to 2017 Prius V as of May 19, 2022, you’re eligible for this settlement.

The amount you can receive is really a reimbursement that will vary depending on the specific expenses you paid out of pocket, including costs for inverter and IPM replacements or repairs, and associated costs like car rentals and towing charges. Whatever money is leftover from the settlement, class members might receive as a redistribution check of up to $250.

If you are claiming out-of-pocket expenses, you will need to provide evidence, like receipts, to support your claim.

Discover called you illegally about accounts you didn’t own

Discover violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by unsolicitedly calling people with prerecorded messages about credit card accounts they did not own.

If you were not Discover customers and received an artificial or prerecorded call from them between Aug. 25, 2017, and Feb. 7, 2023 about a credit card account, you’re eligible to apply. There is no mention of proof to send a claim.

Each claimant is estimated to receive between $40 and $110, depending on the number of valid claims filed. If there are enough remaining funds, a second round of payments will be conducted.

Lufthansa canceled your flights during COVID-19 and never refunded you

The $50 million settlement is to resolve claims that Lufthansa failed to refund consumers for flights that were canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. If you purchased tickets for a Lufthansa flight scheduled between Jan. 1, 2020, and Aug. 16, 2021, and your flight was canceled, you’re eligible to apply.

There are two subclasses of claimants. If you have already received a refund from Lufthansa for the canceled flight, you can choose between a $10 cash payment or a $45 voucher for future flights with Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines, Austrian Airlines, or Brussels Airlines. If you have not received a refund, you are eligible to receive a full refund of your flight cost plus 1% interest. You will need to provide the ticket reservation number as proof of purchase.

Wells Fargo allowed a Ponzi scheme

Wells Fargo agreed to pay $3.75 million to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming that they facilitated an Equitybuild Ponzi scheme that cost consumers millions.

If you invested in the Equitybuild scheme and lost money as a result, you’re eligible to apply. You will receive a proportional cash payment based on how much you lost in the Equitybuild scheme.

Mitsubishi manipulated the market to charge you more for your old, bulky TVs

Mitsubishi—yes the car company—was caught working with other companies to raise the price of cathode ray tube (CRT) products, like TVs and monitors, and is now agreeing to pay $33 million to settle things in court. We covered the whole drama here. If you ever owned one of those heavy, chunky TVs or monitors, odds are you qualify.

Audi had defective gateway control modules on their vehicles

Volkswagen agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement because certain Audi vehicles were equipped with defective gateway control modules. If you owned or leased any of the following Audi vehicle models and years, you’re eligible for this settlement:

You can also check your vehicle’s VIN on the settlement website to determine your eligibility.

You can receive reimbursement for repairs or replacements dealing with the gateway control module failures or malfunctions. The amount will vary depending on the repairs and whether they were performed by an authorized Audi dealer. Repairs done by non-authorized dealers are capped at $1,450.

You may need to provide documentation of repairs and other related expenses, such as repair records, receipts, proof of payment, and declarations.

Two companies have been overcharging you for pork for over a decade

Pork producers JBS USA Pork and Smithfield worked together with other pork manufacturers to raise and fix the price of pork products, leading to overcharging consumers. There are multiple settlements for each of the manufacturers, but you can file them with the same form.

Anyone who purchased pork products manufactured by JBS USA Food, Clemens Family, Hormel, Seaboard, Smithfield, Triumph, Tyson, and Agri Stats between January 1, 2009, and April 2, 2021 from a retailer or grocery store is eligible.

How much you’ll receive is yet to be determined and will vary since claims are still pending against other manufacturers. There is no proof of purchase necessary to submit a claim.
