Forty Years of Buddha Amitayus Retreat
Since 1985, Kadampa centers have been organizing retreats at the beginning of each year on the yoga of Buddha Amitayus. Through this, participants increase their lifespan, wisdom and good fortune.

amitayus retreat at the mother Center
Forty years ago, in 1985, Venerable Geshe-la introduced the practice of Buddha Amitayus at Manjushri KMC. He explained how to practice Amitayus retreat and encouraged us to engage in this retreat every year, around the beginning of the year.
Since then, Kadampa centers have honored this commitment, and the practice has been continuously carried out for 40 years here at Manjushri KMC.
From the depths of our heart we thank Venerable Geshe-la for his great kindness in giving us this practice that helps us take full advantage of our human potential.
AN INSPIRING RETREAT IN MEXICO
This weekend we were fortunate to have the opportunity to do a retreat on the practice of Buddha Amitayus, a meaningful and inspiring retreat.
Under the guidance of Gen Sangden, we reflected that our human life is precious if we use it wisely to train ourselves on the spiritual path, and that the ultimate goal is to be free from suffering forever, to be truly happy, and to help others to do the same.
Thanks to the blessings of our Guru Buddha Amitayus, we are filled with positive energy to continue practicing Dharma (Buddha's teachings) in our lives.
Thank you to everyone who attended this weekend.
Buddha Amitayus in Monterrey
We started February with many blessings at Kadampa Meditation Center Monterrey!
As we do every year, we held a Buddha Amitayus retreat. We concentrated on the meaning of these beautiful prayers in six sessions, reciting the mantra, generating faith, and making requests for a long life, good fortune and wisdom.
How fortunate to have enjoyed such a virtuous weekend!
Many thanks to our Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, for his infinite kindness, to our dear Resident Teacher, Kelsang Damcho, for his skill in teaching and guiding the meditations, to our valuable network of volunteers and to the organizers for all their work.
Tharpaland KMC enjoyed their annual Amitayus retreat
On the first weekend of February, the community of Tharpaland KMC enjoyed their annual Amitayus retreat.
During the introduction Gen Ananda emphasized the importance of avoiding an untimely death and overcoming our ignorance, so that we can make progress in our inner development. He explained why relying upon Buddha Amitayus is a supreme method for accomplishing these aims.
We all enjoyed coming together as a spiritual community, and really prayed for our loved ones and for all living beings, reciting mantras for this purpose and wishing from our hearts for a spiritually fruitful year free from obstacles.
