Cruise line boss Samantha Stimpson to take interim charge

Fred Olsen Travel managing director Steve Williams is retiring from the company after 36 years.
Samantha Stimpson, chief executive of Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, will assume the additional position of interim managing director for Fred Olsen Travel.
Williams said: “I am extremely proud of what the team and I have achieved over the years.
“As I take this next step in my life, I’d like to thank all of my industry friends and colleagues for 36 great years in a brilliant industry.”
Belinda Mindell, chair of Fred Olsen Travel, added: “The board and I would like to thank Steve for his dedication and loyalty.
“Steve has been instrumental in building up the businesses within Fred Olsen Travel. We wish him well in his future.”
Williams first joined Fred Olsen’s freight division, before progressing through the ranks and becoming managing director of Fred Olsen Travel 20 years ago.
He went on to grow the company through acquisition and investment, and was honoured for Outstanding Contribution at the 2023 Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards in recognition of his role overseeing a business encompassing retail, homeworking, a tour operation and GSA teams.
