If the title of this article caught your eye, I have a funny feeling why. Chances are you’ve heard of the power of manifestation and you’ve attempted to manifest things into your life. What you may not have heard of is the power of an abundant mindset.
Most people tend to think of a manifesting as wishing for something, so you might’ve hoped and prayed for a salary increase or your dream home, but ended up disappointed when neither of those things materialized the next day.
Before you spend your time counting on the fact that if you ask for something, it will be given, there are two things you should know about manifestation:
Oftentimes, what you’re trying to manifest does not come to fruition overnight The act of manifesting is not just putting a wish or a hope out into the universe, but a repetitive act of speaking and acting your deepest desires into existenceIf you’re confused by that second point, don’t worry! Let’s clear things up a little bit . . .
Scarcity vs. Abundant Mindset
First off, the rumors are true. Manifesting takes time, just like meditation. You may have already found yourself frustrated over trying to manifest something into your life with great focus. The good news is, all you’re missing is a piece to the puzzle.
If you already believe that like attracts like, manifesting can be as easy as thinking, talking and living your life the way you dream of. Essentially, everything you do is manifesting.
Scarcity is this creation of our mindset that there isn’t enough time, or enough money to be made
Using the Law of Attraction as a guide, your thoughts, words and actions will create your reality by magnetizing the same energy you’re putting out. The one thing that will block your ability to manifest your dreams is focusing on what you don’t have, which is a trap that almost everyone falls into.
Before you’re able to adopt an abundance mindset, you must tackle the scarcity mindset that has been superimposed on you by external factors like social media. Tapping into your inner self is what will allow you to see all that already exists in your life.

Ready to unpack what’s holding you back from experiencing the things you didn’t know you had? Let’s start by painting a better picture of what your scarcity mindset looks like.
Scarcity Mindset – the Great Inhibitor
As a podcast host on a show that discusses money and personal finance, I’ve been fortunate to have some amazing conversations with inspiring individuals (like Ashton, the founder of YogiApproved!). In an early episode with my friend Anita, she described scarcity mindset so clearly:
“Scarcity is this creation of our mindset that there isn’t enough time, there isn’t enough money to be made, there isn’t enough work to be had, and that we must fight and compete with each other, and I don’t think that’s true.”
When you put it into perspective, she’s right. This “nothing good will come from it” attitude only allows you to focus on the present, but if you can switch the narrative to “there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody,” you’ll be free of constraint.
In other words, abundance creates freedom. Abundance allows you to think for yourself. It’s no secret that in the corporate world where short-term thinking is the norm, asking for a raise is tiptoed around and managers hoard information from their colleagues.
A scarcity mindset can prevent us from chasing after goals and thinking outside the box, making life “pedestrian”. Experts like to say that when you focus on what is working, “limitless possibilities” are all you can see.
You might be wondering how to incorporate these changes into the way you think, act and speak. Thankfully, we took the guesswork out of the equation for you in the next section.
Follow These 5 Steps for Manifestation Success
Now that you have a better understanding of what it takes to start manifesting, let’s go over some ways to easily turn your scarcity mindset over to an abundant one.
1. Set Boundaries Around Negative Energy
Things you’re doing or saying to yourself could be creating strong emotions like anxiety, anger or resentment. There could also be people in your life who make you feel that way, and the last thing you want to do when trying to adopt an abundance mindset is be around someone who operates on a victim mentality.
It’s important to take stock of the people, places and things that make you not-so-positive (that includes the workouts you dread!). Immerse yourself in thoughts and surround yourself with objects that make you happy. Associate yourself with people living the lifestyle you aspire to.
2. Create Win-Win Situations
I recently read about this concept in an article by Caroline Castrillon, a distinguished Forbers author and career and life coach. Through her lens, a scarcity mindset believes that if one person wins, another loses.
However, if you come up with reasons why you should feel accomplished whether you win or “lose”, you’ll always be able to cultivate an abundant mindset and see the good and move on satisfied.
3. Get Comfortable With Change
Those who live with a scarcity mindset fear what might be coming for them, but a person with an abundant mindset goes with the flow. They accept change as a part of life and understand that no matter the outcome, there is something positive to be learned from any situation.
The present day challenges we are all living through presents the perfect opportunity to welcome change once and for all.
4. Be Proactive
Speaking of change . . . It’s easier to sit back and react to the ebbs and flows of life rather than take initiative and make things happen. Someone with an abundant mindset will take a proactive approach to life rather than wait for things to happen for them.
Remember: it’s within your power to plan for what you want and then go out and make it happen. You just have to believe it will.
5. Reflect and Be Grateful
Nowadays, it seems like everyone is practicing gratitude. Without sounding like a broken record, it’s never a bad idea. Again, if you can focus on what is working for you and what you do have, an abundant mindset becomes effortless to adopt.
Hot tip: contemplate and be grateful.

Manifest What You Want In Life With an Abundant Mindset
While conducting some research for this article I found that the super-savvy co-founders of Women Who Money said it best: it’s human nature to look for what’s wrong or to focus on what we don’t have. Despite this primal instinct, dwelling on the negatives isn’t healthy, productive or beneficial for anyone.
The one thing that will block your ability to manifest your dreams is focusing on what you don’t have, which is a trap.
If you want to grow more optimistic and increase your happiness and satisfaction with life, it’s best to attain an abundant mindset. Doing so requires the use of one foolproof life hack: believing that positivity attracts positivity and acting accordingly.
