Riding high off the success of “Top Gun: Maverick,” which has taken in over $1 billion worldwide, Jennifer Connelly has lined up her next project. The Oscar winner has signed on to star in Alice Englert’s directorial debut, “Bad Behaviour.” Deadline broke the news.

Written by Englert, the dark comedy follows Lucy (Connelly), “a former child actress who seeks enlightenment at a retreat led by spiritual leader Elon (Ben Whishaw) while she also navigates the close yet turbulent relationship with her stunt performer daughter, Dylan (Englert).”

As an actress, Englert’s credits include “Ratched,” “Beautiful Creatures,” and “Ginger & Rosa.” She’s following in her mother, Jane Campion’s, footsteps by stepping behind the camera. The pair collaborated on “Top of the Lake,” a BBC Two/Sundance Channel mystery that Campion co-created, wrote, and directed. Englert had a supporting role in the series, which was led by Elisabeth Moss. Campion won the Oscar for Best Director this year for her Netflix Western “The Power of the Dog,” making her the third woman to ever land the honor.

Connelly took home an Oscar for “A Beautiful Mind.” “Snowpiercer,” “Little Children,” and “Requiem for a Dream” are also among her credits.
