Lopez in "Hustlers"Jennifer Lopez is heading towards the Bronx to debut her latest project. A press release announced that a Netflix doc about the global superstar will open the 2022 edition of Tribeca Film Festival.
Directed by Amanda Micheli (“One Nation Under Dog”), the doc sees Lopez, a two-time Grammy nominee, reflecting on “her milestones and evolution as an artist [as she] navigates the second half of her career continuing to entertain, empower, and inspire.” The doc “serves as the kickoff to the second half of Lopez’s life, as she lays bare her evolution as a Latina, a mother, and an artist, taking agency in her career and using her voice for a greater purpose.”
“It’s an honor to be selected for the opening night of Tribeca, and so fitting to be celebrating this critical milestone in Jennifer’s life and career just miles from where she grew up! To have the opportunity to share this film on the big screen with a New York audience is a dream come true,” said Micheli.
Tribeca Film Festival runs from June 8-19. “Halftime” launches on Netflix June 14.
Lopez’s biggest box office hits include “Hustlers,” “Maid in Manhattan,” and “Home.” “I’m Real,” “If You Had My Love,” and “Jenny From the Block” are among the singer’s best known singles. The “Selena” breakout was recently seen in “Marry Me,” Kat Coiro’s rom-com about a famous singer who marries a stranger after being ditched by her fiancé at their televised wedding. Her upcoming slate includes Niki Caro’s “The Mother,” a thriller about an assassin.
