Lata Expo opens in London

Three-day event attracts 140 tourism suppliers

Lata Expo opens in London

The largest B2B travel show dedicated to Latin America in Europe has opened in London.

More than 140 tourism suppliers from across the region are attending the tenth anniversary Latin America Travel Association (Lata) Expo.

The three-day show comes as the World Travel & Tourism Council predicted that 2023 will be the year of the long-awaited recovery of the region’s travel sector.

GDP and employment levels driven by travel and tourism are expected to exceed 2019 figures for the first time since the pandemic.

Under the theme of ‘The Power of Tourism’, the event at Battersea Evolution is focusing on how tourism is a force for good, generating growth in local economies, creating job opportunities and raising funds for important local initiatives.

The LATA Expo travel agent programme takes place on Wednesday between 4pm and 6:30pm, followed by a closing party.

The trade workshop aims to provide a insight on how to sell the region, with exhibitors including the tourism boards of Argentina and Colombia and the tour operators Golden Galapagos, Aqua Expeditions, Latin Routes and Journey Latin America.

Agents will learn new tools, receive new information about tours and experiences in addition to making new contacts and staying for the evening networking party with Latin American food and drinks.

The programme includes interactive sessions with prizes and other surprises, according to the association.

The association’s charitable arm, the Lata Foundation, hopes to raise £1,000 in donations during the event.
