💡 Expert tip

For the best results, use fresh herbs and freshly squeezed lemon juice. This will give your lemon herb tahini dressing a vibrant, zesty flavor that is perfect for drizzling over salads, roasted vegetables, or grain bowls.

🔄 Variations

If you are a fan of spicy food, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. This will give it a nice kick and add a pop of color.

If you prefer a creamier texture, you can replace some of the water with coconut milk. This will also add a subtle coconut flavor to the sauce, which pairs well with the lemon and herbs.

For a Mediterranean twist, try adding a teaspoon of ground cumin. This will give the sauce a warm, earthy flavor that is commonly found in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.

🥣 Serving ideas

This lemon herb tahini dressing is incredibly versatile and can be used in a variety of delicious ways.

For a refreshing and light meal, consider adding this dressing to a falafel platter or a falafel sandwich. It is a great alternative to the traditional maple dijon tahini dressing.

If you’re a fan of gyros, you can skip the vegan tzatziki sauce and try it with our oyster mushroom gyros or falafel gyros on pita bread. The creamy and tangy flavors of the dressing are a perfect match for the hearty gyros.

You can also use this dressing as a flavorful addition to a Mediterranean grazing board. It pairs beautifully with a variety of fresh veggies, olives, hummus, and other plant-based delights.

In addition, it makes a delicious dressing for a grain bowl. Drizzle it on top of your favorite grain bowl for a burst of citrusy, herby flavor. I have a delicious delicious in our Express Vegan Cookbook.

❄️ Storing tips

Storing and reheating this lemon herb tahini dressing is a straightforward process that helps to maintain its fresh and zesty flavor.

Store leftovers in an airtight container. It will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to four days. The herbs and lemon juice may cause the dressing to separate slightly, but a quick stir before serving will bring it back to its creamy consistency.

I do not recommend freezing this dressing. The high water content of the fresh herbs and the lemon juice can change the texture of the tahini, making it grainy and less appetizing.

🤔 FAQs

Can I use other herbs in the sauce?

Yes, you can use a variety of green herbs with the tahini sauce, such as cilantro, thyme, basil, oregano, mint, or chives. However, the recipe was specifically tested with dill and parsley. If you choose to use other herbs, the flavor of the sauce may be different.

What can I use if I don’t have capers?

If you don’t have capers, you can leave them out or substitute them with olives. Both capers and olives add a briny, salty flavor to the sauce.

How do I adjust the consistency of lemon herb tahini?

If you find that your tahini sauce is too thick for your liking, you can easily adjust the consistency by adding more water. Just add it a little at a time and blend until you reach the desired thickness. Conversely, if your sauce is too runny, you can thicken it by adding more tahini.

Notes

Always use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the brightest, freshest flavor. Don’t be afraid to adjust the consistency of your tahini sauce by adding more or less water. This is a personal preference, so start with a little and add more as needed. A good quality blender such as a Vitamix is essential for the best consistency. You can also use an immersion blender due to the small quantity of ingredients.  If you’re not a fan of capers, you can leave them out or substitute with chopped olives for a similar briny kick. This lemon herb tahini is best served fresh, but you can store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
