Stalter in "Hacks"

Just over a month after booking her first starring role Megan Stalter has her own TV series in the works. The “Hacks” breakout created, exec produced, and is set to topline “Church Girls,” a series inspired by her life that’s in development at HBO Max and A24.

“The half-hour comedy follows Beth Parker, played by Stalter, a 20-year-old Christian closeted lesbian as she wrestles with her sexuality, and faith in God, while entering adulthood in suburban Ohio,” Deadline details.

Stalter is best known for her supporting role as Kayla on “Hacks,” which was just renewed for a third season on HBO Max. She recently signed on to lead “Cora Bora,” Hannah Pearl Utt’s third feature. The dark comedy follows a millennial who goes home to Portland to win her girlfriend back. Her upcoming slate also includes Rachel Lambert’s “Sometimes I Think About Dying,” an indie drama led by Daisy Ridley.
