Meghan Markle Set to Examine Stereotypes About Women in Her First Spotify Podcast

Markle in "Suits"

Meghan Markle is all too familiar with the kind of misogynistic vitriol leveled at women. She’s faced sexism, racism, and classism on a global scale. The Duchess of Sussex is set to “examine the history behind the stereotypes” women are reduced to for her first Spotify podcast series, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Titled “Archetypes,” the podcast is slated for release this summer and will be hosted by the “Suits” alumna. “She is expected to interview historians and experts to discover the history behind such labels and have conversations with other women whose own public perceptions have been shaped by these stereotypes,” the source details.

A teaser for “Archetypes” sees Markle setting the stage for the podcast, which she promises will “dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.” After snippets of words and phrases like “slut,” “submissive,” “emotionally unstable,” Markle notes, “This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls, and how the media reflects women back to us,” she says. “But where do these stereotypes come from? And how do they keep showing up and defining our lives?”

Markle is among the project’s exec producers. She and her husband, Prince Harry, signed a multi-year deal with Spotify, reportedly worth $25 million, in 2020.
