Mia Hansen-Løve’s “One Fine Morning” Lands at Sony Pictures Classics, Léa Seydoux Stars

Described as “poignant” and “powerful” by The Guardian, and “an immensely satisfying collaboration that finds both auteur and star further solidifying their spots among the greats of their respective fields” by The Hollywood Reporter, “One Fine Morning” has been snagged by Sony Pictures Classics. The production and distribution company landed North American, Latin American, and Middle Eastern rights to Mia Hansen-Løve’s latest following its world premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar at Cannes Film Festival, where it, and leading lady Léa Seydoux, received rave reviews. Penned by Hansen-Løve, “One Fine Morning” follows a single mom who is caring for her ailing father and desperate to get him the medical care he requires. When she reunites with an old friend — who is already in a relationship — the pair’s connection turns romantic.

The film, which marks Hansen-Løve’s eighth feature, has sold in over 50 territories.

“Mia Hansen-Love has a 21st century voice that is comparable to the best of Truffaut,” says Sony Pictures Classics. “Lea Seydoux gives her finest performance to date. The fusion of performance, sound, and visual storytelling here achieve a perfection, making ‘One Fine Morning’ one of the truly great French movies.”

“Bergman Island,” “Things to Come,” and “Goodbye First Love” are among Hansen-Love’s other credits.

Seydoux, who recently signed on to topline Audrey Diwan’s English-language debut, “Emmanuelle,” made history with her “Blue Is the Warmest Color” co-star Adèle Exarchopoulos as the first actresses to be awarded Cannes’ Palme d’Or. They won alongside the film’s director. Seydoux’s more recent credits include “No Time to Die,” “The Story of My Wife,” and “The French Dispatch.”
