National Society of Film Critics Names Charlotte Wells Best Director for “Aftersun”
"Aftersun"“Aftersun” continues to make its mark on awards season. Charlotte Wells’ debut feature has earned her the National Society of Film Critics’ best director honor.
Set in the ’90s, “Aftersun” tells the story of a pre-teen girl (newcomer Frankie Corio) who goes on a seaside vacation with her father (Paul Mescal, “Normal People”).
The drama premiered to rave reviews at Cannes Film Festival last year. It took home seven statuettes at last month’s British Independent Film Awards.
