Northumbria Travel ceases trading

Cruise specialist travel agency Northumbria Travel has ceased trading.
Abta confirmed the agency, established in 1984, stopped trading on February 21.
It was a member of the Advantage Travel Partnership and cruise body Clia, was fully-bonded with Abta and had a shop on Front Street East in Bedlington.
The business was also accredited by members of both the University of the Third Age (U3A) and Rotary to book holidays for their members.
Packages booked through Northumbria Travel but provided by an external supplier will be take on by the operator named on paperwork.
Tour operators will be responsible for the booking going forward.
Claims requiring further information will be dealt with via Abta as long as they are made within six months.
Abta said the majority of travel arrangements booked by Northumbria Travel were retail leisure sales.
The association confirmed: “We are sorry to inform you that Northumbria Travel Ltd has ceased trading with effect from February 21, 2022.”
On its website, Northumbria Travel said it “specialises in cruise holidays, including escorted cruises and has exclusive deals with many of the leading cruise lines”.
It also organised several escorted cruises each year with river and ocean cruise lines.
Northumbria Travel was run by Beryl Gibson with her daughter Jane and its website said they had a team of staff with more than 100 years’ experience in selling holidays between them.
