Pilot and ATC strikes set to hit flights to Italy and Greece
EasyJet issues alert about Milan Malpensa and Naples

Travellers heading to Italy on Monday (February 24) are likely to face disruption amid strike action, as are those flying to Greece on Friday (February 28).
EasyJet has issued an alert to travellers ahead of strike action affecting flights from the UK to Italy on Monday.
A statement from the airline said: “easyJet has been formally advised of a national transportation workers strike, including some Italian-based pilot unions, on Monday 24 February 2025 from 12pm to 4pm local time, affecting some of the flights flying in and out of Milan Malpensa and Naples
“We advise customers travelling on 24 February to check the status of their flights on our Flight Tracker for the latest information.
“We would like to reassure customers we are doing all possible to minimise any potential disruption as a result of the strike action.”
The action is reportedly part of a wider wave of protests across various sectors in Italy, affecting public transport, including trains and buses.
Elsewhere, AP has reported that air traffic controllers in Greece plan to join a nationwide general strike called to demand justice for the 57 victims of the country’s worst rail disaster two years ago.
Reports warn that commercial passenger flights will be heavily disrupted, if not entirely cancelled, for the duration of the strike.
EasyJet said in a statement: “easyJet is aware of the 24 hours national industrial actions in Greece on Friday, 28 February. Like all airlines operating to and from Greece, easyJet might experience some disruption to its flying programme.
“We advise customers travelling on the day to check the status of their flights on our Flight Tracker page or manage their bookings using our disruption portal on our mobile app or website at www.easyjet.com/(Your flight number).
“Customers on affected flights will also be contacted directly via SMS and email via the details provided at the time of booking. Any customers affected by cancellations are eligible for a refund or a free of charge transfer to a new flight.
“Although this is outside of our control, we would like to apologise to all our customers for any inconvenience and would like to reassure them we are doing all possible to minimise any disruption as a result of the strike action.”
