Princess Cruises and Fincantieri postpone Star Princess launch
Delay will result in cancellation of nine inaugural sailings
Princess Cruises and the Fincantieri shipyard have mutually agreed to postpone the delivery of Star Princess.
The delivery of the Sphere-class ship has been pushed back from July 29, 2025 to September 26, 2025, resulting in the cancellation of the nine planned inaugural sailings.
The decision was made “following a comprehensive review of the remaining construction milestones”.
“Despite our collective dedication and relentless pursuit to deliver the ship in late July, it has become evident that additional time is required to ensure the Star Princess is delivered to the highest standards expected by our guests,” said president John Padgett.
Guests booked on any of the impacted sailings will be offered the chance to book any Princess cruise worldwide, on any Princess ship.
Passengers who choose to rebook will receive future cruise and onboard credit, depending on the cruise they select.
Impacted guests will also have the option to cancel and receive a full refund of the cruise fare.
Princess will protect travel agent commissions on all bookings that have been paid in full.
Star Princess’s revised inaugural cruises will open for sale on April 30, 2024.
The postponement comes after the line was forced to delay the inaugural sailing of sister vessel Sun Princess, which has since launched.
