Ramblers Walking Holidays adds self-guided trips to portfolio

Ramblers Walking Holidays has added a new portfolio of self-guided holidays to its expanding programme for 2023.

The specialist operator now offers 22 self-guided trips in six of its most popular destinations – the UK, Italy, France, Greece, Spain and Portugal.

The holidays allow clients to walk at their own pace, and include accommodation; door-to-door luggage transportation; maps and route notes via an app.

Clients are offered 24-hour emergency support for “added peace of mind”.

Kevin O’Regan, managing director, said: “We have seen a significant increase in demand for self-guided holidays, where people still value the professional assistance of RWH with their trip planning but want greater flexibility and independence than a guided small group walking holiday with a fixed itinerary.

“It’s a lovely way to explore the world independently on foot.”

The self-guided holidays have flexible start dates so they can be booked to begin on any day during the season and be adapted to fit in easily with individual plans.

As flights and rail travel prices are not included, there is the added flexibility for clients to choose how to get there and the choice of going early or staying on later in the day.

In the UK, self-guided options include the West Highland Way and Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, as well as the opportunity to explore the Lake District independently from RWH’s own property Hassness Country House.

European routes feature the Tour du Mont Blanc – Chamonix to Chamonix; Via Francigena – From Lucca to Siena; and The Way of St James – Le Puy to Conques.
