Reed & Mackay enhances sustainability toolkit

Initiative hailed as ‘new chapter’ in carbon calculations

Reed & Mackay enhances sustainability toolkit

Enhanced CO2 data for air, rail, car hire and hotels is to be provided by business travel specialist Reed & Mackay to help clients make sustainable travel choices.

Carbon calculations within the TMC’s online booking platform now factors in data such as number of passengers, aircraft model and booking class.

The enhancement presents the relative carbon position of a flight compared to others the same day — alongside clear policy markers — and also enables users to sort results by cost, preference and now carbon emissions.

It is the first in a series of sustainability focused enhancements planned over the coming months.

The initiative follows the TMC partnering with Squake, the industry solution for sustainable travel and transport, in January.

Reed & Mackay global chief executive Fred Stratford said: “As companies look to balance achieving their ESG targets with the need to stay connected to the international business community through in-person meetings, they are increasingly turning to their travel and events partners to empower their travellers to make informed choices with the latest CO2 intelligence.

“At the same time, they also want to be able to balance sustainability goals with cost management and traveller productivity. That is what we’re enabling clients to do.”

Global product director Fahim Khan added: “This is a new chapter for our in-product sustainability offering, designed in partnership with clients to help them meet their ESG targets.”

Squake co-founder and chief executive Philipp von Lamezan said: “Reed & Mackay is a leading name in travel, and with their prestigious client base increasingly looking for next-level support to manage their travel-related emissions, we knew our solution would add a crucial new component to Reed & Mackay’s R&M/Book system.”
