Royal Caribbean delays Star of the Seas delivery and cancels sailings
Inaugural departure pushed back to August 31, 2025
Royal Caribbean International has cancelled the first two scheduled sailings on Star of the Seas and pushed back the ship’s delivery date.
The vessel, a sister ship to Icon of the Seas, was due to depart on its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral on August 17, 2025.
But the line said the ship, which is being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, is going to be delivered “later than anticipated”, leading to the cancellation of both the August 17 and August 24, 2025, sailings.
Star of the Seas is now scheduled to depart on its inaugural cruise on August 31, 2025.
A spokesperson said: “Royal Caribbean International has adjusted the previously scheduled debut of Star of the Seas to August 31, 2025.
“The new ship, currently under construction in Turku, Finland, will be delivered later than anticipated which has, unfortunately, required the cancellation of the August 17 and August 24, 2025, sailings.
“Guests booked on the cancelled cruises can rebook their vacation on another ship or move to Star’s first sailing on August 31. We have communicated these updates to guests and travel partners.”
