Some of the fastest marketing and agency leader exits of 2022

The agency and marketer revolving door seemed to swing pretty fast in 2022, with executive tenures sometimes marked by months, not years. Below, some of the quickest exits of the year.

Rafael Acevedo

He joined Dunkin’ as chief marketing officer in June 2021 after holding various roles at Coca-Cola North America. But Acevedo left in March, just 10 months after Scott Murphy, president of Dunkin’ Americas, had praised the hire, calling him a “highly-experienced, talented, strong business leader.” Dunkin’ promoted Jill McVicar Nelson into the role in September.

Amber Guild

She left Grey New York as CEO in November to become McCann New York as CEO. The move from a WPP shop to an IPG one came a year after Guild joined Grey from New York Times’ T Brand Studio.

Ciro Sarmiento

Weber Shandwick hired him in early 2021 as a sign that it was getting serious about building its creative business. But Sarmiento decamped in August to lead the Tide account for Saatchi & Saatchi.

Marianne Malina

Call it the Stagwell shuffle: Malina was hired by CPB in April 2021 as global CEO. But she was on the move again in August 2022, brought in as 72andSunny’s first-ever North American president to oversee both its New York and Los Angeles offices.

Mat Goff

Goff was one of Adam&Eve’s original employees, joining the agency in 2008 when it was a startup. He spent most of that time in London, and moved to New York last January—but his stay in the city is short. He is exiting the Big Apple at the end of the year, and Adam&Eve, to head back to the U.K. for family reasons—and “with the move comes the chance for a new work adventure too," he said.

Hermeti and Ana Balarin

London is also apparently a pull for this Brazilian husband-and-wife duo. They left Mother London for Wieden+Kennedy Portland in June 2021 as executive creative directors but plan to move back to London at the start of 2023. The Balarins are staying with W+K, where they will help lead the agency’s U.K. office.
