ExpenseAnywhere Targets SMEs with 'Express' Version

Travel and expense management platform ExpenseAnywhere has launched an "Express" version for small and midsized clients.

ExpenseAnywhere CEO Ashok Dhar said the simplified version was designed for companies, including "non-technical client personnel," to be able to set up the tool themselves, which "you can set up in the a.m. and use in the p.m.," he said. The version is "highly configurable," with the ability to set it up with accounting systems, general ledgers and corporate cards if a company has those or without them if they do not.

Like the full ExpenseAnywhere solution, it includes capabilities to select approval workflows, supports multiple currencies, provides tax tracking in several countries and can produce a "one-click" expense report via AI and data-mining technologies, according to the company.

"You can have someone with no accounting system, or using ClickBooks or Sage or another system, and we can set it up," Dhar said. "You can have complex policies, and we can set it up, too."

The Express version lets ExpenseAnywhere service small companies—a startup with only 10 employees, for example—a market that Expensify also is targeting with its New Expensify app, launched last year.

Should those small companies grow, they can migrate to the full ExpenseAnywhere solution without losing data, Dhar said.

Monroeville, Pa.-based ExpenseAnywhere has been around for nearly 20 years, Dhar said, and has been expanding globally beyond its markets in the U.S. and Canada, including in China, Japan, India, Singapore, Australia and South Korea as well as Europe.

The company's chief revenue officer, Michele O'Bryan, said ExpenseAnywhere also is working to "sign as many indirect channel partnerships as possible." It announced a partnership with Gant Travel earlier this year to integrate its expense solution with Gant's travel management platform, and it has signed up to be a partner with BCD Travel as well.
