Accommodation provider Sonder Holdings will add four London hotels to its portfolio in 2022, the company announced Wednesday, and also will expand units under management in Edinburgh and open a new hotel in Dublin.
San Francisco-based Sonder opened both the 102-key Henry and the 53-key Voyage hotels in London this month. The 74-key Rove along with a yet-to-be-named 86-room property will bring Sonder's total London properties to 10. The company also announced it would expand Sonder Royal Garden Apartments in Edinburgh, Scotland, by 11 units. In Dublin, it has contracted an additional 91 units and expects to open a 26-unit property later this year. The additions will bring to 28 Sonder's total properties under management in the U.K. and Ireland.
Sonder went public through a special purpose acquisition company merger in January. CEO Francis Davidson told BTN in February the company had signed more than 100 corporate customers during the pandemic and that it was "a good moment to lean in" to that segment—despite the pandemic downturn—given the company's contactless model.
Sonder currently operates more than 300 properties in 35 countries and in March 2021 put its content on the three major global distribution systems.
The company also announced it has committed to eliminating single-use plastic amenities in all of its guest-facing units no later than Dec. 31, as part of its wider sustainability commitments.
