STR: Q1 U.S. Hotel Construction Dips, Planning Up

Total U.S. rooms in the planning stage at the end of the first quarter increased 26.3 percent year over year, while rooms under construction dropped 15.7 percent and rooms in the final planning stage decreased 16.8 percent, according to STR.
Throughout the U.S., about 155,000 rooms are under construction, led by New York with about 14,300 rooms, Nashville with about 4,400, Miami with about 3,450 and Detroit with about 2,600 rooms.
