While there’s a lot of appeal to having a full-built desktop computer, sometimes you need something that offers a monitor and processing tower all in one machine. That’s where all-in-one computers come in. Over the years, these sleek machines have seen some huge advances, and if you’re looking to buy a great all-in-one desktop in 2023, then you’ve got a few options in front of you.

First, you’ll want to figure out what you’re looking for in a computer. Do you need something super powerful, or will a budget-friendly option cut it? Do you prefer Windows or macOS? Ask yourself those questions before heading into a decision.

If you want a solid all-in-one, but don’t want to spend a ton of cash, then the Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3i is a solid option. Listing at just $530, this all-in-one system comes with a 22-inch display, as well as 8GB of RAM and a 256GB solid state drive. It’s not the beefiest system you’ll find on the list, but at less than $600—sometimes cheaper when on sale—it’s a solid option that will do everything most people need to do on a computer.

The 22-inch display offers 1080P HD resolution, and the 256GB solid state drive means you can expect fast load speeds on apps and even some less intensive games. Unfortunately, it isn’t a lot of storage space, so you’ll probably want to invest in an external hard drive if you have a lot of photos and videos. It also has a single HDMI port, so you can expand to a second monitor if you need more space.

Four USB ports mean you can easily attach a keyboard, mouse, and some other peripherals, too, and with Windows 11 support, you’ll get the latest updates from Microsoft right out the box.

You can purchase the Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3i from Best Buy for $530.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, those looking for a high-end all-in-one will find that the HP Envy All-in-One 34-c1045t offers more than enough to keep your system running smoothly, even under intense tasks. This machine offers up 16GB of RAM and a 34-inch 5120 x 2160 resolution display. It also comes with a discrete graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce GTA 1650 with 4GB of VRAM. While it isn’t the most extreme card by any means, it should handle minimal gaming. You can also customize this particular all-in-one to find a setup that works for you, including options for up to 128GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD.

It launches with Windows 11 home, and the included Intel Core i5-12400 CPU offers 6 cores and 12 threads, so it should handle multitasking quite well. As far as all-in-one desktops go, this HP offering is a solid hit that will fit nicely at your desk, and give you access to 4 USB Type-A ports, a single USB Type-C port, and 2 Thunderbolt 4 with USB Type-C ports.

The HP Envy All-in-One 34-c1045t starts at $2000, and can be customized directly on HP’s website.

The iMac is possibly the most famous all-in-one desktop, and Apple last updated its iMac lineup back in 2021. While it might not have the newest chipset from the tech giant, the iMac with M1 chip offers excellent performance for anyone who wants an all-in-one desktop that runs off Apple’s macOS system.

The 24-inch display is bolstered by the power of Apple’s M1 chip, offers up to 16GB of unified memory, and up to 2TB of storage space. It comes equipped with Apple’s Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, and starts at just $1300. You can also change the model that you want, giving you options for larger SSDs, allowing for more storage of videos, apps, and photos.

Part of what makes the iMac so enticing is the various colors that the all-in-one offers. You can choose from Blue, Green, Pink, Silver, Orange, Purple, and Yellow, so there’s likely a color for everyone.

You can buy an iMac for $1300 from Apple. Other options will cost more, but could give you more storage space

Ultimately, no all-in-one is going to offer the full power of a desktop PC with a high-end processor and a high-end discrete graphics card, like an RTX 40 series. However, all the options on this list will give you a good place to start, providing more than enough power for your day-to-day tasks and work.
