Large TVs have become much more affordable in recent years, but a 98-inch Mini-LED model below $2,000 still stands out. The TCL 98QM7K is currently selling for $1,997.99, down from its regular $2,999.99 price and the lowest price recorded so far, according to price trackers. It's also one of the more notable TV discounts we've seen as early Prime Day deals begin to appear—for more such deals and shopping advice, check out our Prime Day 2026 coverage.

The QM7K has earned strong reviews, including an "Excellent" rating from PCMag, and our own testing of the smaller 65-inch model left a favorable impression as well. Now, as for the TV itself, it uses a Mini-LED backlight with full-array local dimming and supports major HDR formats, delivering the kind of brightness and contrast that helps large screens hold up in real-world living rooms—meaning, whether you're watching sports during the day or a movie at night, this TV has enough brightness to cut through ambient light while still maintaining solid black levels. The picture tends to run slightly warm out of the box, so you may want to spend a few minutes adjusting settings. Viewing angles are also typical for an LED-based panel, meaning contrast and color accuracy decrease when watching from the far sides of the room.

What do you think so far?

Still, the QM7K pulls double duty as both a home theater screen and a gaming display, with a native 144Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, and very low input lag, helping fast-moving games feel responsive whether you're using a console or gaming PC. TCL includes four HDMI ports, two of which support 144Hz signals, along with an eARC connection for soundbars or AV receivers, though it lacks support for the newer ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard. Google TV handles the software experience and remains one of the easier smart TV platforms to live with. Streaming apps are readily available, Google Assistant is built in, and support for Chromecast and Apple AirPlay makes it simple to send content from phones, tablets, or laptops.
