Three new carriers expand Gatwick long-haul network
Central Asian destinations added
More than 90 flights a week from Gatwick to Asia and the Middle East are being operated this summer with new routes to Baku, Ashgabat and Tashkent.
Azerbaijan Airlines, Turkmenistan Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways are offering three services a week to Baku, twice-weekly flights to Ashgabat, and a weekly connection to Tashkent respectively.
The arrival of the new carriers means Gatwick now serves 12 destinations across Asia and the Middle East, including China, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE, with more new services to Beijing with Air China, Guangzhou by China Southern and Singapore by Singapore Airlines due to start this summer.
Aviation development vie president Stephanie Wear said: “We are delighted to welcome three new flag carriers to London Gatwick, providing excellent connectivity to previously underserved markets in Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
“We are continuing to develop our long-haul options at London Gatwick and these new routes, while fantastic destinations in their own right, also provide passengers with excellent onward connectivity across Asia.”
