Trailer Watch: Jennifer Lopez Celebrates Milestones & Looks Onward in Amanda Micheli’s “Halftime”

"Halftime"

“My whole life, I’ve been battling to be heard, to be seen, to be taken seriously,” says Jennifer Lopez in a new trailer for “Halftime.” Slated to open this year’s edition of Tribeca Film Festival, Amanda Micheli’s documentary sees the global superstar plotting the second half of her career. “Part of being a great performer is being aware,” she explains in the spot.

The chart-topping singer and “Hustlers” actress has spent a long time living in the public eye, and the nonstop media attention took a major toll on her. “I really believed a lot of what they said,” she admits. “I had to really figure out who I was and believe in that — and not believe anything else.”

In “Halftime,” Lopez will lay “bare her evolution as a Latina, a mother, and an artist, taking agency in her career and using her voice for a greater purpose,” per the film’s synopsis.

Lopez was last seen in Kat Coiro rom-com “Marry Me.” Her upcoming film slate includes “The Mother,” an action pic about an assassin directed by Niki Caro.

“Halftime” premieres at Tribeca Film Festival June 8 and launches on Netflix June 14. Check out the trailer to see Lopez discussing her Super Bowl halftime performance with Shakira.
