Trailer Watch: Naomi Watts Risks Her Life to Save a Stranger’s in Małgorzata Szumowska’s “Infinite Storm”

Naomi Watts is battling the elements again. The two-time Oscar nominee scored one of her nods for “The Impossible,” a drama about a family fighting to survive the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and her latest pic, “Infinite Storm,” sees her trying to make it out of a blizzard alive. Like “The Impossible,” it’s based on a true story.

Małgorzata Szumowska’s latest follows Pam Bales (Watts), an experienced climber who is planning to ascend Mt. Washington. “It’s cheaper than therapy and mountains always listen — and never talk back,” she says in a new trailer for the film. A storm stops Pam from summiting, but on her way down, she encounters a stranger in distress and in need of help. “If we don’t get moving, we’re dead,” she pleads with him.

Watts’ recent credits include “The Desperate Hour” and “Penguin Bloom.”

Szumowska’s “Mug” and “Body” both won Silver Bears at the Berlin International Film Festival. Her last feature, “Never Gonna Snow Again,” was Poland’s pick for Best International Feature at last year’s Academy Awards.

“Infinite Storm” hits theaters March 25.
