"Along the Ride"“Life is long,” a teenage girl is told in a new trailer for “Along the Ride. “It’d be boring if we had to stay the same versions of ourselves the whole time.” Written and directed by Sofia Alvarez, the screenwriter behind “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You” and “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” the Netflix pic tells the story of Auden (Emma Pasarow, “Super Pumped”), a recent high school graduate who feels like she “never really had a chance to be a kid.” It’s her last summer before college, and the overachiever is spending it in Colby Beach with her dad and stepmother. “This is my chance to figure out who I want to be — before the rest of my life starts,” she explains.
Auden spends her time roaming the streets in the middle of the night, and it’s not long before she crosses paths with fellow insomniac, Eli (Belmont Cameli). He encourages Auden to embark on a “quest” to make up for the time she’s lost by centering her whole life around school.
Sparks fly between the two, but it becomes increasingly clear that Eli is hiding something. “This summer you’ve been pushing me to be this whole new version of myself, but you won’t tell me anything about who you are,” Auden says.
Based on Sarah Dessen’s best-selling novel, “Along the Ride” launches on Netflix April 22. The film’s supporting cast includes Kate Bosworth and Andie MacDowell.
