Traverse eyes growth as Martin Lomax becomes managing director

Travel technology provider Traverse has appointed Martin Lomax as managing director as part of its “ambitious” growth strategy.

Lomax has held senior leadership positions with Gold Medal, Thomas Cook and Virgin Holidays, and most recently at Travel Counsellors.

Traverse founder John O’Neill previously held the position of managing director but has now moved to become chief technology officer.

O’Neill said: “Appointing Martin into this role is part of our ambitious growth plans in the UK and overseas, to ensure that we move forward with our cutting-edge technology.

“[It] is proven in reducing repetitive tasks within finance and operations, maximising our machine-learning tools and assisting travel agents and tour operators identify time-consuming tasks which can be automated.

“Martin brings a wealth of experience and business acumen to Traverse and will help us communicate even better how technology can help our customers improve their journey through digitisation.”

Lomax added: “This is an important time for travel businesses in the UK and across the world with digital transformation and technology crucial to a sector looking to bounce back after the pandemic.

“Traverse has an abundance of experience and history in helping companies simplify their models allowing them to focus on the things that are significant, eliminating repetitive tasks, increasing employee engagement, making the job more enjoyable by removing mundane tasks and reducing costs.”

Founded 15 years ago, the Cheshire-based company has a range of travel clients such as Carrier Travel, Elegant Resorts and Kuoni.

Traverse is the marketing category sponsor at the Travolution Awards 2022, which takes place in London on Thursday (November 24).

Lomax will present the four awards in the marketing category on the evening.
