Two UK travel companies cease trading with all trips at risk

Two UK travel companies have ceased trading over the summer holidays, with holiday packages at risk of cancellation.

Frasers Travel Ltd and Golf Villa Rentals Ltd ceased trading last week, with effect from 18 August 2026.

The closure of Frasers Travel Ltd comes 40 years after the company, based in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, was founded in 1986.

The travel provider featured long and short haul holiday packages to destinations including the Caribbean, Spain and Australia.

According to Abta, the travel trade association, people booked to travel with the company should identify the tour operator with whom Frasers Travel Ltd booked their holiday.

The organisation said: “If you booked a flight-inclusive holiday, your tour operator will be named on your Atol Certificate under “Who is protecting your trip”.

“To ensure your holiday continues as planned, you will need to contact the Credit Control Department of your tour operator with whom you have a contract. Your booking should continue as normal, and they will now be your direct point of contact.”

Frasers Travel Ltd said in a statement on Facebook: “We regret to inform you that Frasers Travel Ltd has today ceased trading. We would like to thank all our past clients for their loyalty and support.”

The company’s website has now been taken offline.

Golf Villa Rentals Ltd, a company based in East Sussex, sold package holidays including villa accommodation and travel “on golf courses across the globe”.

Abta advised travellers: “If you booked a package holiday through Golf Villa Rentals Ltd, financial protection for those holidays was provided by financial failure insurance.

“Customers with bookings should visit the Evolution Insurance Company Ltd website for further information and advice on how to make a claim.”

It’s not the only travel company in the UK to close this year.

Earlier this month, Ski Yodl Ltd cancelled all of its holiday bookings after more than eight years of operations.

The company, based in Norwich, launched in March 2018, selling ski holidays to several European destinations, as well as accommodation including self-catered ski chalets, apartments and hotels across the Alps.

SkiYodl was founded and run by Oliver Dannatt, a former private ski instructor for Richard Branson, and his business partner Simon Latarche.
