Vueling surpasses 2019 levels with summer schedule

Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling has surpassed 2019 capacity levels with its summer schedule, which includes 23 direct connections from the UK.

The IAG airline forecasts growth this year will be 9% above 2019, as demand increases and it aims to offer more flights throughout the year.

It offers 278 international routes in total and claims to be the largest airline outside the UK connecting the UK and Ireland with Spain, as well as being the second main operator between Gatwick and Spain.

It also serves France and Italy from London, and offers flights from Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Overall, it has 17 routes available from Gatwick and six from its other UK airports.

The Gatwick-Alicante service has been increased so it now has three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Gatwick services to Gran Canaria and Tenerife were launched before Christmas 2022.

The summer schedule features two flights per week (Wednesdays and Sundays) to Tenerife South and a twice-weekly service (Mondays and Fridays) to Gran Canaria.

Carolyn Prowse, Vueling’s chief commercial, customer, strategy and network officer, said: “This summer schedule highlights the company’s efforts to offer competitive and affordable prices to our customers with almost 300 routes to more than 100 attractive destinations.

“We continue reinforcing our position in Spain with outstanding leadership in Barcelona and Bilbao, in addition to consolidating our international commitment through London-Gatwick and Paris-Orly.”
