WestJet, Pilots Reach Tentative Agreement

After WestJet began to cancel flights in light of an impending strike by the Air Line Pilots Association, the two groups reached a tentative agreement shortly before the strike was to begin, the carrier announced early Friday.

Both parties now are waiting for a ratification vote by the union membership, expected in the next few days.

The company is ramping up its operations "as quickly and efficiently as possible, however the full resumption of operations will take time," according to WestJet, which also operates subsidiary Swoop. It encourages passengers to continue to check the status of their flights prior to heading to the airport.
